Ambassador Role

Ambassadors work closely with other VSP network doctors to elevate opportunities to deliver value to private practice doctors, and provide feedback that shapes solutions to support the long-term success of the profession.

State Ambassador Job Description

Essential Functions

  • Engage within the profession and with industry peers
  • Elevate the perception of VSP Global’s reputation among others in the industry
  • Address topics that may be viewed as controversial (connect back to the enterprise as needed)
  • Participate on four quarterly calls annually, and topically-focused calls
  • Attend two in-person Ambassador Meetings (Spring and Fall)
  • Participate in surveys and provide input as needed
  • Provide Statement of Work following industry events for which compensation is requested
  • Provide intel to/from VSP and state optometric association
  • Provide input and doctor’s perspective on VSP Global programs and concepts
  • By request (optional):
    • Represent VSP Global at regional and national meetings
    • Leverage social channels to provide insights and correct misinformation
    • Consult on client renewals and potential clients
    • Participate in Vision Care Sales Meetings
    • Bring awareness and perspective on up-and-coming clinical trends
    • Engage with peers about VSP Global products and services
    • Aid in number of practices participating in the Premier Program

Qualifications

  • Engage within the profession and with industry peers
  • Currently residing in the state you are representing
  • Five or more years post-graduation
  • Private-practice doctor; or if associate, practicing at private-practice location
  • A VSP network doctor in good standing with VSP Vision Care
  • Well-connected within the profession
  • Consumer of information (i.e., industry-related, VSP-provided intel)
  • Comfortable with challenging conversations
  • Accessible to VSP Global and others in the industry
  • Participating in the Premier Program (if practice-owner or practice-associate, the practice must be Premier (Gold or Platinum; preferably Platinum)
  • Relationship(s) with schools of optometry, state associations, the community, government officials, and other influential doctors  
  • Exercise discretion and independent judgment
  • Sign Conflict of Interest Policy Acknowledgement (prior to becoming a State Ambassador and annually while in the role)
  • Sign NDA (once approved as a State Ambassador)
  • 80% participation in formal Ambassador activities (i.e. meetings, calls, etc.)
